Part 3:  In other news, our Umaine baseball team made their first home appearance over the weekend. They started shaky on Saturday, but swept Sacred Hart on Sunday. They won the first game, 11-2 and the second 5-3.  The team was led by Taylor Lewis who had two triples and a hit and run. Other names to watch out for are Billy Cather, Danny Menendez, and Kevin McAvoy. I'm sure we are all anxious to see what these boys will do next!

Coming Up in the week: News on the New Football Season, and Spring Ball
Part 2: In Hockey News, it is good to see our boys end a good season with a bang. Freshman, Gustav Nyquist became the 25th black bear to be named to the Hockey East Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team. He had an amazing season and led the hockey team by scoring 13 goals, and 19 assists for a total of 32 points. Among his other talents, Nyquist has one several rookie awards over the course of his season. We look forward to seeing him next year!
I hope everyone had a great black bear weekend! Over the weekend there has been several athletic events.

Part 1: Umaine Women's Softball Team. The team this year is looking good in their new season. Over the weekend they played Bryant University, and won the first game, 12-7 and the second 6-0. These games were led by Sophomore Terren Hall who shaped up to be a force to be reckoned with on the field, by leading the team with a three run home run. GO GIRL!
